Shahrukh Jatoi, a death row inmate in the notorious Shahzeb Khan murder case, is enjoying generous facilities in the Karachi Central Jail, Dawn News reported on Friday.
During a show titled “Exposed,” the host shared a video of Jatoi making full use of the TV, games console, and air conditioning on his death row — prison rules and procedures. It is a clear violation.
When contacted for comment on the video, IG Prisons Sindh Nusrat Mangan said she could not comment on the authenticity of the footage as the video was not provided to her before airing and Neither did they see it.
Jatoi is reportedly enjoying B-category treatment in Karachi jail, even though he is not entitled to it.
IG Prisons said he would look into the matter and take action against “any irregularities in the management of the jail”.
The Supreme Court can take suo motu.
Former Chief Justice of Pakistan Saeed-ul-Zaman Siddiqui, talking to Dawn News, said that according to the prison manual, category A or category B facilities cannot be given to a death row prisoner.

20-year-old Shahzeb Khan was shot dead on the night of December 24, 2012 while returning home with his sister after a wedding.
Shahzeb, son of a DSP, was allegedly killed after he had an argument with a servant of the suspects who had allegedly verbally threatened the victim’s sister.
Jatoi, Siraj Talpur, his younger brother Sajjad Talpur and their domestic servant Ghulam Murtaza Lashari are accused of killing Shahzeb at the City Defense Housing Authority (DHA).
The case attracted a lot of media attention after the Supreme Court took notice of the suicide.
