UOS Edu PK | University of Sargodha We are pleased to present to you the University of Sargodha as a major university of the public sector located in the Punjab province in Punjab, Pakistan. It was established in 1929 when it was established in De’Montmorency College, later renamed as Government College, which was granted its University Charter in 2002.With its main campus situated at Sargodha the city of Sargodha, Agriculture college and Medical college in its suburbs as well as a sub-campus in Bhakkar The University currently has approximately 24,000 students and 800 professors, which includes 300 PhDs in 21 departments and three institutes, a school and five colleges that fall within the faculties that comprise seven: Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities sciences, Agriculture, Pharmacy, Medical and Health Sciences, Engineering and Technology. They are supported by 1200 administrative personnel. The University is also home to 260 private and public colleges throughout the province.
Sargodha University offers modern teaching and research facilities. These include modern laboratories, well-equipped classrooms and a large library collection that includes online access to journals and books. More than a dozen hostels can cater to all female students, and some male students. With a budget-friendly cost structure, the university offers a wide range of internships, scholarships and business opportunities for poor and meritorious students. The Internship Program and Career Development Centre help students prepare for future career opportunities that are competitive through instruction in the hands Two E-Rozgaar centers located on the main campus as well as the sub-campus let them earn money via online freelance entrepreneurship. The Incubation Centre provides students who are creative with the opportunity to launch lucrative careers prior to graduating.
The main campus, situated in the center of Sargodha city, is lush and peaceful. The University is committed to the advancement of scholarship and critical thinking among its students and new faculty. Every semester, the University is buzzing with academic, co-curricular and sporting events, such as seminars and conferences, sports galas, and a literary festivals. The university also has an FM station offering information, entertainment and educational programming to students as well as local residents.
In order to ensure the success of research The University has set up active institutions, including The Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization, and Quality Enhancement Cell which has helped to register a number of international patents of faculty in agricultural and science, as well as providing funding for research as well as publications, and linking academic research to economic development in the area. The University operates an Citrus Nursery and also produces the mineral water it produces, KhusAab, for faculty staff, students and faculty. It also has a long tradition of community involvement, including it’s Medical Complex and Research Centre that provides Telemedicine, OPD, pharmacy and diagnostic services for university staff and students as well as residents in the city.
Sargodha University has academic exchange agreements with some of the largest Chinese Agriculture Universities, including Lanzhou University, and South China Agriculture University. The University also collaborates to organizations like the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, Worldwide Fund for Nature as well as other notable institutions and national organizations that conduct higher education and research. In the year 2019, Pakistan’s fifth Confucius Institute was created within the University, in collaboration in conjunction with Henan Normal University in China.
The University is pursuing an ambitious plan of academic excellence that is quality-focused for the near future. It hopes to eventually become an academic hub across Pakistan along with South Asia.
